War of the worlds...

Last night, was sitting at the seats near STAD while waiting for aikido classes to begin. Was enjoying the nice night breeze and the sights of gals passing by. Then I noticed a group of guards walking off. They just finished their shift i guess. Didnt pay much attention to them. Then, the commotion started.

First phase (Initializing):

"That is my personal life. You do not intefere with it!"

Second phase (Verbal):

"Puki mak! Cibai! Lan chau!" (Alright, alright. I just heard puki mak.)

Third phase (Physical):

Punches. Kicks. Projectiles.

Oh. And i forgot to mention. The ones involved in the fight were 3 women. It was quite a serious scene I would say. Took 6 other guards to stop them. Was really a heated fight. One bottle even flew to the spot where I was sitting.

Really unprofessional. The guards in the campus and Cyberia have no professionalism at all. They are rude, lazy and they get into fights. Unlike the foreign security guards who are the opposite of them. With this kind of mindset, I wonder what kind of jobs would fit these people.

Friday and Saturday Night Fever

A couple of old classmates came up to KL and we had a small gathering. On Friday night, was hoping to shoot some hoops but these guys were all geared up for futsal. Thinking of soccer reminds me of University days where those bastards would just assign me to be goalkeeper. And thinking further, it has been like that since primary school. Bastards! Anyhow, was kinda excited as Ive never had a try at Futsal before.

Met at a futsal centre at Kelana Jaya. The rest were wearing indoor soccer boots and there I was in my Iverson shoes. Anyhow the game went on and I guess it wasnt my type of game. Didnt give me much excitement nor thrill. Anyhow, you ve got to try something before you can say you like it or not. Hate those ppl who comment on something which they have never even tried before. But it was a good gathering I would say. Meeting up with old friends and reviving the good old days.

On Saturday night, we gathered again. This time, we were going to Klang for some seafood. Nothing much to mention about the food as it was kinda normal if not bad. But tried a new kind of alchohol there. They called it something like coconut wine. It was fermented coconut milk i think. It tasted sour and disgusting. But we were supposed to add it with some Guiness Stout. After adding, it was not bad. Quite nice in fact. Tasted like beer which wasnt that bitter and had a dash of sourness. Later found out that they called it 'tuak' in Chinese.

Then after that, we went to Halo cafe in Sunway. The singers there were quite good I would say but the service there was terrible. Waited for at least an hour before our drinks came.

They proceeded for Mahjong but I was too beat to carry on with them.

Had some complimentary tickets for the show Batman Begins. Its been a while since I last enjoyed a movie. Found it pretty good. Full of action and excitement.

"The ugliest bat-mobile that I have ever seen."

When Lobak said that, I was wondering how bad it could get. But I couldnt agree more when I saw it myself. But I thought it was kinda cool. Batman driving a tank...

Aikido again...

Life after work had been pretty dead lately. Going back to an empty house. Funny... i did rent out a room but there seems to be no one occupying it.

Anyway, normally after work, reach home to an empty house and bore myself to sleep. Sounds pretty lifeless I would say. Yesterday was the first day of aikido training in the campus. So, dragged a colleague along and we went there to train. Well, another main reason going there was to check out if there were any chicks in the new batch of members.

But it felt great to be back at the campus. Met up with old friends, saw lots of students around and back to the old dusty dojo. Even the sensei was suprised to see me. Well, dont blame him as its been a whole year since I last trained.

As usual, the first day of training was less intense as sensei would be lecturing the class on the fundamentals of aikido and then later demonstrating some aikido moves and proceeding with some techniques.

Wasnt a good workout last nite, but I guess I figured out what was wrong with my life. The lack of interactivity with people. Guess I will be an active member once again in the club.

Then after that, I went back home with my friend carrying a bouken (wooden sword) on his shoulder. Luckily there was no police block or I wouldnt be writing this now.

Konsert 6 Jahanam

I remembered laughing at the name of this concert a few months back. Little did i know that i would be attending the very same concert last weekend.

Evelyn got some extra tickets for the concert, so we passed two to Laurent. We met there and started to queue for the concert. The crowd there was like any celebration countdown where everybody walked like sardins in a can. All kinds of perfume, sweat and all sort of smells could be smelt there as everyone were so close to each other. We then blew up those long balloons where they used for cheering.

There were a few local artists performing there when we got there. Then there was a long long wait for the VVIP. By that time, we were all pissed and tired. Backs were aching and legs were shaking. Maybe those 6 VIPs were the 6 jahanam. Soon after that, the real concert started and everybody went high and wild. haha I did my trademark howl that turn friends into strangers and strangers into enemies.

The stage was about 500 meters away from us, so basically we were cheering to a big screen. Was kinda lame I guess when u really think about it.

However, soon, i was really suffering from back ache and dehydration. Eve saw her favourite artist, Fish Leong and we decided to leave earlier. It was hell trying to move through the crowd.

Slept the moment i touched the bed.

Return of tennis....

Finally, the new semester of the university had started. Which means the students are back and so are old friends(juniors).

Contacted an old tennis kaki, Jesse and we met last night. Meiseen and Lay Yean joined us as well. It's been a while since I last played but still managed to hit some balls. Not that I was good previously, but no balls went out of bound and it was a good workout. After that, we played doubles with the gals where we ended up not playing as much. More balls to the net, more balls going out of bound and hell lot of laughter.

Overall, it was a good work out. Worked out some sweat and some stress. Any kaki interested, just gimme a call. Anytime I am free, I ll be there.

FFKed when I could have TFKed

A friend (the guy whom was sacked in my earlier post) called me a couple of times last week inviting me to yum cha. So, last night, decided to drop by and have a chat or something. After my work, I gave him a call saying that I was dropping by and he said "Great. C ya!"

So, i made a detour to Sunway and dropped in front of his house. Called him and this time he said that he was in Subang with his friends. I said WTF and he asked me to go to Subang to meet him. I said screw it and he said maybe tomorrow.

Sometimes I really do wonder what the hell these people thinking of. No wonder he got sacked. Guess the boss was smart and saw the obvious. Made me feel like the dumb one.

Fume....

Goodbye Catfish

Ever since I threw the catfish into the aquarium, the water became cloudy, my other fishes started acting weird and basically the only thing i can see is the damn big cat fish. Wasnt much point to keeping it i guess.

So yesterday, knocked on my neighbour's door and asked if she wanted a free dinner. She said okay so i went to catch the big fella. It took me about 15 minutes to catch it. Guess it knew it was going to be eaten so it gave the aquarium a final thrashing. Water splashed everywhere and the aquarium seemed like it was going to break. Caught it in the end and waved it goodbye.

This morning, I asked about it and the neighbour said she passed it to the neighbour below who loved catfish and has many kids to feed. At least, the fish wasn't wasted I guess.

Wonder how long will I last here...

Went to supervise a photoshooting session with my editor today. Went to cover some dishes prepared by a chef. It was at a house which had been empty for 2 years before the chef bought over it. The house was very huge and it was kind of dusty and eerie. There was a smell of rotten flesh. The idea of why the house was abandoned flashed through my mind but I just brushed it off.

Anyway, the shooting took place and after 3 hours, we were done with it.

Then, my editor had a short chat with the chef. The chef noticed that I was new and mention to the editor, "How come whenever I meet you, you are with a new assistant? What happened to the last?" My editor told the chef that they resigned when they were actually sacked. Damn! Wonder if it was a sign or something. When we were done, the chef said "Hope to see you 'again' the next time."

Depressed...haha

Technology and us

A colleague was telling me about how her RO water dispenser got spoilt and she did not drink anything for the whole night and morning. So, I asked her why she didnt boil water to drink. She replied that drinking this kinda boiled water or any other than RO WATER would make her stomach upset.

I was like thinking...what the heck. Has their immunity system dropped so low?? How weak has this kind of people become. Haha Sometimes, it makes me wonder what is technology doing to us. They say that the diseases are getting more serious and dangerous these days. On the other hand, it might be the opposite. It is us humans who are getting weaker and prone to these diseases.

Sunday Fishing

Tried my best at persuading Eve to follow me fishing. Finally, it seemed like it was easier breaking a diamond with a rock, so I went alone. Again to Subang lake where there was a pay pond and many people were already fishing there.

Bought a ball of chicken feed mixed with flour for 3 bucks and picked a spot, fixed my rod and cast the line. A nearby guy saw his float sank underwater. He yanked it and his rod started bending like crazy. Slowly reeling it in, he finally managed to pull the fish up. It was more than a foot long. The fishes there were quite big and aggressive. There was this guy who was day dreaming when his whole rod was suddenly yanked into the water. Luckily, the rod got stuck to the fishing line of the guy fishing beside him. Pulled up the rod and continued tackling the fish. Was another huge one. The guy beside me warned me to watch my rod as there are many rods at the bottom of the lake. There were many restaurant fishes there such as patin, soon-hock, tong-san, rahu and many other fishes. Some of the guys there caught more than 15 fishes and there was this guy who needed a wheelbarrow to wheel his catch to his car.

Okay, enough about other people. Let’s talk about me fishing.
Was sitting there for like 2 hours, not feeling a bite, reeling it in to find the bait gone, exchanging of bait, recasting and the process continues. Was wondering if anyone even bought the bait from the pond operators (yea, I bought mine there). For me it was more of a mental game to keep alive my hopes of getting a fish. This mental game soon turned into a mental torture when everyone started leaving with a great haul. It was getting dark and I changed the final bait of the day and cast it. Threw the remaining bait into the water and started packing up. Then I waited a while longer. Suddenly, I noticed my line moving a little. I moved my hand closer to my rod. Then this time came a harder yank and I grabbed the rod and yanked it. Started reeling in and could feel something heavy at the end. The line moved everywhere and my rod bent like crazy. Finally, I managed to pull it up. It was a CATFISH! ( the cheapest fish in the lake) but it was a whooping 2 footer. Oh yea! Two footer. The biggest catch of my lifetime. Then I noticed something. I hooked it at its fin. A Chinese uncle and his daughter came over to see my catch.

“Wow! That fish is huge!”

“But…I caught it by the fin. Wonder if I should feel proud or embarrassed.”

“Haha. No need to be embarrassed. It’s a one in a million chance.”

Nah, I thought to myself. This was actually my SECOND time catching a fish by its fin. Anyway, I brought the fish home and dumped it my 3 foot aquarium. My trophy. I guess, at the end of the day, this catch made my day.

The midnight stranger

My housemate was sleeping soundly when he woken up by a knock on the door. He sat up and listened carefully. He heard something like someone dragging their feet while walking. The lights were on so he assumed that it was me. Then he saw a shadow at his door and a knock came again.

The next thing I knew was he kicking me out of bed and saying “Your fucking catfish is at my door!”

Healthy Lifestyle

Upon hearing about my friend, Meiseen who finally decided to choose the path of a healthy lifestyle, I looked at my double chin and bulging belly. The time has come. It was a do or die situation.

So, before the roosters could crow, I woke up at 6 on a SUNDAY morning. Went over to fetch Eve and we headed for Subang lake, a popular jogging place that I know. There were already many people there. Old folks doing tai-chi, young parents with kids tagging along, and even ‘cun’ chicks jogging around the lake.

We started with a brisk walk, slowly quickening the pace to a slow jog and soon a quick jog. The jogs were pretty short but it got all the sweat out. It’s been a while since I sweated this much and it felt good. Wasn’t really in the proper attire and had problem jogging actually. I wore a 1.5kg three quarter pants with 2 handphones, whole ring of keys, wallet and purse in it, and basketball shoes as footwear. All this added weight to an already weighty person made jogging heavy. Anyway, made just 3 rounds around the lake and we decided to leave.

After that, Eve kept asking me to bring her for breakfast somewhere in Overseas Union Garden (O.U.G) till I finally gave in. There, I ordered a bowl of curry noodles and she ordered a large bowl of pork noodles (where half of it went to me), and pastries (karipap, egg-tart, and some kuih – where she stuffed most of it to me).

Ended up with a bigger belly and a fatter chin. So much for my healthy lifestyle.

Buzy buzy buzy

I guess it had been some time since i last updated my blog.

But now my work doesn't just involve the computer. Had been going out a lot lately as the magazine's photographer. My first photography session was at the National Science Centre to photograph a camp for an upcoming magazine. Sounds professional huh. But the company only provided a Panasonic Lumix. Was hoping for a SLR to play around with.

My first job as a photographer was a memorable one. The kids were just so adorable and cute - not a single trace of shyness in front of the camera. Posing around cheerfully and laughing at everything they do. Really enjoyed myself.

... starting to sound like the other MJ.

The other session was to supervise a photography session. It was taken by a professional photographer and I was wondering what was my reason of my existence there. I guess I had to guide the photographer towards the direction the magazine was heading. Was a pretty good experience too. Seeing how he take the pictures and all. Didnt know that professional photography required so many equiptments. The lights, the shades, lenses, laptop, cables and stuff. Even the tripod weight like dunno how heavy. The best of part of it was...we were shooting dishes for a recipe section of the magazine. After shooting, the food were ours to savour.

My colleague (the guy whom i fetched to work and got his shoe burnt on my exhaust) got sacked the other day. A slow chap and the boss said that he was too slow for the company. Felt kinda sad about it but then nothing I could do. Thanks to him, all the work he was in charge of was passed down to me. So, that is the reason for me not updating my blog as frequent.
